We strongly condemn the coup attempt perpetrated against the Amhara Regional Government of Ethiopia, which resulted in the loss of life of the President of the Amhara Regional Government and other high level officials.

We are deeply saddened with the passing away of the Chief of General Staff of Ethiopia as a result of an attack carried out in Addis Ababa, linked with this coup attempt. We convey our condolences to the friendly People and the Government of Ethiopia.

We reiterate that Turkey is against all attempts to unlawfully change elected Governments, and express our strong support to Ethiopia in the aftermath of this coup attempt.
